The problem is that almost no one is ever thoroughly evaluated for ALL of the causes, even by a gastroenterologist. And even when you’ve had lots of tests done, they rarely are as thorough as you think they are.

A lot of doctors don't even order stool testing. Others order a limited panel that looks for only a handful of things.

If parasites are a possibility, we don't just look for Cyclospora. We test for Cyclospora, along with a very broad range of other parasites, bacteria, and other potential causes of chronic diarrhea. In fact, we test for everything that can possibly be tested for.

And here's something that's just as important.

Let's say your Cyclospora test comes back negative. Does that mean you're fine? Of course not. It simply means Cyclospora wasn't the answer.

The real question is: What IS causing your diarrhea?
