I’ve worked with patients from all over the world—U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and across the U.S.—and no matter where they’re from, they all tell me the same thing: “The care I’ve been getting isn’t very good.” And they’re frustrated.
If you’re dealing with a chronic condition like IBS, digestive issues, or another ongoing health problem, you might feel the same way. You’ve possibly seen multiple doctors, gotten countless tests, and maybe been told, “everything looks normal,” even though you don’t feel normal at all. And it’s expensive.
The U.S. medical system is extraordinary in some ways. Trauma care, advanced surgery, cancer treatment, emergency medicine—we have specialists and technology that few other countries can match. But for chronic issues, the story is very different.
We spend roughly twice as much per person on healthcare as other developed nations, yet our life expectancy is generally lower. Much of that money goes to administrative costs, insurance bureaucracy, and inflated prices for tests and medications. Doctors are doing their best, but they’re trapped in a system that rewards speed and profit over truly personalized care.
For chronic problems, it’s often woefully inadequate—and you may have noticed that they are often willing to sell out your health to pharmaceutical companies because it’s easy and saves time (thus profitable). That’s why you often have to go outside the system to get care that actually works.
At the IBS Treatment Center, we take the time to listen, investigate, and find the root causes—not just mask the symptoms. The U.S. healthcare system can save your life in an emergency, but for chronic issues, the best care is usually found with someone who can treat you as the special individual that you are, not a diagnosis.
If you need help, whether you live in the U.S. or somewhere else, give us a call. We exist to serve you, not some larger entity. Since 2005 we’ve been helping people around the world via telemedicine, and we’d be happy to help you too.
And remember to always take good care of your body. It’s the only place that you have to live.
