If you're dealing with frustrating gut symptoms that never seem to go away, there’s a good chance Candida might be playing a role, and that treating it could help you vastly improve your health.
I’ve treated well over one thousand cases of Candida overgrowth. In this video, I’ll walk you through the top 7 gut-related symptoms of Candida overgrowth, a condition we treat every day, and explain how you can start addressing the root of the problem.
👉I’ve also created a workshop that literally explains everything about Candida, including all of the things I didn’t have time for in this video, such as other possible symptoms, as well as specific details for testing and treating Candida. You can learn more about it by clicking the link here.
1. Gas and Bloating
If you are frequently bloated after eating—or even wake up bloated—this could be due to Candida fermenting food in your gut. It produces gases that your body can’t absorb well, leading to uncomfortable pressure and swelling. This is one of the most common signs we see in people with a Candida overgrowth.
2. Constipation or Diarrhea
Candida disrupts the healthy balance of bacteria in your digestive system. This imbalance can either slow your digestion to a crawl or speed it up too much, leaving you with frequent constipation, diarrhea, or an unpredictable mix of both.
3. Abdominal Discomfort
Many people describe a vague, persistent discomfort or even pain in the belly. Candida overgrowth irritates the lining of the gut, contributing to inflammation and that “off” feeling that’s hard to describe—but impossible to ignore. And sometimes it’s even really severe pain that you think must be something else, but doctors can’t find anything else. I’ve seen this happen many times.
4. Food Reactions
Have you noticed your body reacting to more and more foods? Candida overgrowth can increase intestinal permeability—also known as “leaky gut”. This can lead to problems breaking down lots of different kinds of foods, even foods that would otherwise normally be really healthy foods.
5. Fatigue
It’s not normal to feel wiped out. If you do, Candida could be affecting your ability to digest and absorb nutrients. The toxins it releases also place a burden on your body, leaving you drained instead of energized. And this feeling might be present throughout your day.
6. Cravings for Sugar and Carbs
Candida feeds on sugar. One of the more common signs of overgrowth is strong, persistent cravings for sweets, bread, pasta, or alcohol. These cravings aren’t just willpower issues—they may be a sign that your gut is out of balance and Candida is actually telling you to eat sugar.
7. Brain Fog and Difficulty Concentrating
Though it starts in the gut, Candida’s effects reach all the way to your brain. Many people report difficulty focusing, poor memory, or feeling mentally “cloudy.” Once we begin addressing Candida in the gut, you’ll experience a huge improvement in your brain fog.
