If you’ve tried every IBS diet out there and you’re still miserable — this is for you.
Most people are doing diet completely backwards.
If there’s one thing that frustrates me about how IBS is treated, it’s this:
People are told that diet is the answer — but no one explains how to use diet correctly.
So today, let’s talk about:
Here’s the most important thing I can tell you:
Diet does not usually cause IBS — and diet alone rarely fixes IBS.
Most people approach diet like this:
What usually happens?
Then the thought comes:
“There must be something wrong with me.”
But the real issue is this:
They were using diet as a treatment for a problem they didn’t fully understand.
Diet is usually a tool — not a diagnosis.
Low FODMAP can be useful — but it’s one of the most misunderstood IBS diets.
It can:
But here’s what most people don’t realize:
Low FODMAP does not treat the root cause of IBS.
It may help you feel better…
But it often leaves the underlying issue untouched.
That’s why so many patients say:
That’s not a long-term solution.
Here’s how we think about diet:
Diet can be part of the treatment.
But more often, diet is part of the strategy.
We use food in three main ways:
If your gut is inflamed, eating more gently for a period of time makes sense.
That’s support — not surrender.
Some reactions are not simple intolerances.
If this isn’t evaluated properly, no diet will ever feel right.
When the real issue is treated, most patients can actually expand their diets.
That’s the goal:
More freedom — not more restriction.
This confuses so many IBS patients.
They eat “perfectly” — salads, vegetables, nuts, whole grains — and feel terrible.
Then they think they’re failing.
Here’s the truth:
Healthy foods can still trigger symptoms if your gut is:
When patients say:
“I did everything right… and I felt worse.”
That’s not failure.
That’s your gut asking for help — not punishment.

Many people try to treat SIBO or Candida with diet changes alone.
They feel somewhat better…
But never fully recover.
Why?
Because diet often masks symptoms — it doesn’t eliminate the underlying problem.
If SIBO or Candida is part of your IBS picture, you can’t “diet” your way out of it.
Diet can calm things down.
But it’s rarely the complete solution.
Here’s what leads to lasting improvement:
1️⃣ Identify your true root causes
2️⃣ Address them properly
3️⃣ Use diet strategically — not as a guessing game
4️⃣ Gradually expand foods instead of eliminating everything forever
When this is done correctly:
We’ve seen this pattern thousands of times.
Patients come in after:
When the real causes are identified and diet is used correctly, people improve.
Not because it’s magic.
But because when you stop guessing and start treating the real problem, IBS becomes solvable.
If you’ve been shrinking your world around food and still don’t feel right, there is another way.
You don’t have to keep living in restriction.
You don’t have to fear every meal.
The goal isn’t a smaller diet.
It’s a stronger gut.

And remember — take good care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. 💙
